Calling all volunteers! Concern Hotline will need an extra bit of help on July 26th for the Rubbermaid Sale which takes place in the Belk parking lot at Apple Blossom Mall. Set up is the most critical time we need help – it starts at 6:30 a.m. and consists of unloading the truck. Other duties include collecting money during the sale and clean up afterwards. If anybody can help, just let us know.
Also, the Friday Fish Fry is September 5th. Set up starts at 10 o'clock in the morning and clean up starts at 8 o'clock in the evening. Duties include set up, clean up, ticket sales, beer ticket sales, food service, bussing tables, and drive-thru service. So if anybody has some free time, come on down and join the effort!

Friday Fish Fry Celebration...new developments!
This year's event is right around the corner, and we have some exciting new partnerships to share with you! First, in July and August be sure to check out the ValPak coupon packets – thanks to Vitamin's Plus a $2.00 coupon off the ticket price will appear on the back of their advertisement directling folks to visit their store to redeem the discount. AND, thanks to Winchester Addiction Services, another promotional piece will also appear advertising basic event information. Another partnership we are excited about is with the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Musuem. They have agreed to organize the children's activities offering kite making crafts for the kids while parents enjoy food and adult beverages with their friends!
Our "Golden Intern," Jennifer Goldizen!
This summer we have been fortunate to work with an intern who has spearheaded several projects
for us. These projects include:
- Developing a comprehensive media contact list for the region.
- Developing a diversity module for our volunteer training manual - information includes the changing demographics of our region and how to set aside some of our own beliefs while on the hotline.
- Developing a comprehensive guide of private practice counselors in our call area – this information and referral tool will help you as volunteers refer callers to specialists. The guide includes information about insurance and specialities.
