Welcome to Concern Hotline Inc

Concern Hotline, Inc., established in 1968, is a volunteer-operated hotline providing crisis intervention, suicide prevention and information and referral services, to anyone in need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year alone, volunteers took over 12,000 calls for help. The hotline services Lord Fairfax Planning District 7 (LFPD7), which includes the City of Winchester and the Counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren. The hotline also contracts with Northwestern Community Services Board (NWCSB) to provide 24-hour crisis care intervention. We are designated as a "member agency" for the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley, the United Way of Front Royal/Warren County, and the United Way of Page County.

We provide the following services:

  • The Hotline

Our hotline is answered 24-hours a day, 7 days a week by highly trained and caring individuals. We provide crisis intervention when needed through our relationship with NWCSB, suicide prevention to anyone who finds themselves at a desperate point, and information and referral service to those who need information to take the next step to get help, or for those who need to talk to an anonymous, non judgmental listener.

  • The Concern Sourcebook

Originally designed as a tool for our volunteer staff, the Sourcebook is a valuable resource containing hundreds of agencies within LFPD7, as well as national emergency information, 800 numbers, and support group information . The Sourcebook is available for purchase and a majority of the information is contained in the on-line version as well. Contact the business office at 540-536-1630 if you would like to purchase an edition, we can also send you an invoice and mail it directly to you for your convenience.

  • Online Assistance

Concern Hotline will also answer questions and offer asssistance through email. If you would like to recieve a personal response to your question or comment please e-mail us at answers@concernhotline.com.

From Our Director

Welcome to Concern Hotline's web site! We hope you visit the site often, and find it useful and packed with valuable information. The organization has been serving the community for over 38 years, and we are proud to be able to continue to provide this valuable service, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year alone, our volunteers took over 12,000 calls for help, and the numbers keep growing.

We are always in need of volunteers; they are the "life blood" of the organization and keep the hotline alive. Once you are trained, shifts can be taken from your home, office, or cell phone. Please contact me at the business office directly if you would like more information. Also, if you have questions about our annual fundraisers, want to make a donation to the organization, have comments about the organization or our web site, please don't hesitate to call.

Thank you for visiting our site and check back often for new and exciting updates!

Respectfully serving you and the community,

Brooke F. Herndon
