Depression, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Loss, Adolescent Games, Bullying … Are you CONCERNED?  How should you respond?  If you are concerned or simply want to learn more, you are invited to attend an educational symposium advocating wellness strategies to comfort, calm and inform the community of the Shenandoah Valley.

CONCERN Hotline, Inc. is pleased and proud to present "Are You Concerned?" on Wednesday, April 18,2012 Sportsplex, Winchester, VA in Winchester.  This unique and much anticipated Symposium is a partnership with and financially supported (in part) by Valley Health/Winchester Medical Center, Northwestern Community Service Board, Top of Virginia Chamber, CROWN Beverage Packaging, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Shockey, Shenandoah University, Winchester Printers, and Impressions Plus.

The main keynote speaker will be The Honorable Attorney General Kenneth "Ken" T. Cuccinelli II, Commonwealth of Virginia, and the Master of Ceremonies will be award-winning journalist Gail Pennybacker, of ABC7/WJLA-TV.

National-level speakers and experts from the Shenandoah Valley will present information on:

  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse in the Workplace – A Guide to Identification, Intervention, and Treatment
  • Suicide Prevention and Intervention – Identifying High Risk Populations
  • The Games Kids Play – Choking, Burning, and Cutting
  • Bullying Online, in the Schools and in the Workplace - Horizontal Violence. 

Break-out sessions will comprise representatives from:

  • The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
  • The University of Miami, Florida
  • The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, VA Department of Health
  • The University of Virginia
  • The Martinsburg VA Medical Center
  • The Bully Prevention Program, Virginia Department of Health
  • Winchester Medical Center/Valley Health
  • Northwestern Community Services
  • The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Winchester, VA
  • Fredrick County Public Schools

Admission Fees are $85 per person ($40 for full-time students, college students, and Veterans).  All fees and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and include Contact Hours and Continuing Education Units for select healthcare professionals, light refreshments and unlimited access to the Symposium’s Marketplace and Corporate Exhibitors.

This live educational presentation has been approved for Continuing Educational units for doctors, nurses, and social workers. Human Resources CUE approval is pending. All participant will be provided Certificates of Attendance to present to their local authorizing body for any other continuing education units (e.g. teachers).
